Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes is a Franco-Manitoban community with a population of approximately 600 residents, located about 130 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg. Today, the residents of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes remain fiercly proud of their European background and actively work to promote and preserve their French heritage. The community distinguishes itself by offering health and community services in Canada's two official languages.

Located in the Pembina hills region of Manitoba, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes is surrounded by several bilingual as well as anglophone communities. A service centre for a predominantly agricultural region, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes has successfully developed a particularly strong healthcare sector (the largest employer in Notre- Dame-de-Lourdes is the Foyer Notre-Dame senior’s home, with over 100 employees) with a hospital, a clinic as well as ambulance services. The town also boasts two excellent schools (elementary and high school) that offer instruction in French and are part of the Division scolaire franco-manitobaine (DSFM).
