The Rural Municipality of Ritchot is located in southcentral Manitoba, in the Capital Region just a few kilometres south of Winnipeg and St. Norbert. The municipality extends southward from Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway, between Provincial Trunk Highways #75 and #59. The R.M. of Ritchot is approximately one hour north of the 24-hour U.S. border crossing at Emerson/ Pembina Port of Entry. 

There are several communities within the boundaries of the R.M. of Ritchot: the towns of St. Adolphe, Ste. Agathe and Île-des-Chênes are three of the more prominent communities and there are also Grande Pointe and Glenlea. The municipality’s offices are located in St. Adolphe. As a result of its proximity to Winnipeg, the Rural Municipality of Ritchot is a popular place for families to live. With most of its communities within a 30-minute drive from the city, residents are able to appreciate the quiet country lifestyle while commuting to work everyday in the nearby city.

Residents of Ritchot are employed in various sectors of economic activity. In addition to a strong agricultural farming economy that includes cereal and oilseed operations as well as pork and dairy farms, the R.M. of Ritchot has some prominent employers: Trans- Canada Pipelines, which provides natural gas to Manitobans, employs approximately 50 area residents, while Brodeur Frères and the Municipality Office in St. Adolphe also employ a few dozen residents. The University of Manitoba research facility in Glenlea also provides jobs to area residents.
