For a third year in a row, the Conseil de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique des municipalit\u00e9s bilingues du Manitoba <\/strong>(CDEM), in partnership with Cin\u00e9mental <\/strong>and the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise du Manitoba<\/strong>, presents Cin\u00e9ma sous les \u00e9toiles <\/strong>(Movies Under the Stars)<\/em><\/strong>. Cin\u00e9ma sous les \u00e9toiles offers Manitoba audiences free outdoor screenings of French-language films with English subtitles, this year from June 10 to September 9. We are grateful for the support of our partners, without whose help the event could not take place: the St. Boniface Cathedral, la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de la Francophonie Manitobaine, Qu\u00e9bec Cin\u00e9ma, L\u2019Institut fran\u00e7ais, Radio-Canada, La Libert\u00e9 and Envol 91 FM, and Heritage Canada funding support.<\/p>\n

Popcorn nights at home! <\/strong>Due to the pandemic and current provincial public health restrictions, the movies scheduled for June 10, 17, 24, and July 1 will be offered online. Movie-lovers will have access to a selection of French-language films with English subtitles curated by the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise du Manitoba. To access the films, you may register through our ticketing partner 233-ALL\u00d4\/1-800-665-4443<\/strong>, and you will receive the link on the day of the screening.<\/p>\n

Depending on the ongoing public health situation, in-person screenings under the stars will start on July 8 and will continue every Thursday night during the months of July and August. The last screening will be on September 9. The sessions will begin at sun-down, between 8:30 and 9:30 PM depending on the month (the full schedule will be provided at a later date). The screenings will take place in the St. Boniface Cathedral ruins. The number of seats will be limited according to the provincial public health restrictions. Social distancing and sanitary measures will be in place and stringently enforced. They will be adapted in keeping with provincial restrictions as the public health situation evolves.<\/p>\n

In case of cancellation due to inclement weather or pandemic restrictions, the organizing committee will send an email to all participants notifying them of the situation. This message will contain a link to a French-language movie, just like the month of June\u2019s Popcorn nights at home. In other words – no need for a plan B! Thursday night is movie night! We guarantee a movie night every Thursday, whether that be under the stars or at home!<\/p>\n
