CDEM and its partners announce the arrival of the first Virtual Recruitment Fair<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

WINNIPEG, March 7, 2022 \u2014As labour shortages are increasingly felt in various sectors of the economy, the ProAction Virtual Recruitment Fair is a great opportunity for employers and future employees to connect.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On March 31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., newcomers and employers are invited to this major event initiated by the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM) and the ProAction program, in partnership with the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00c9conomique de l’Ontario<\/span> (S\u00c9O), the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de la Colombie-Britannique (SDECB) and the R\u00e9seau de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique et d’employabilit\u00e9 (RD\u00c9E Canada).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“At this event, newcomers will be able to discover the opportunities available to them in the tourism, leisure, hospitality, catering, health, cybersecurity, audiovisual and construction sectors,” explained Salimata Soro, Director of Employability and Immigration at CDEM.\u00a0 They will be able to meet with recruiters from these targeted sectors of the provinces of Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two conferences are planned as part of this event. At 10 a.m., consultant Martin Lacelle will give a speech on land use planning towards the visitor market. And at 2 p.m., a Deloitte representative\u00a0 will talk about job opportunities in Canada.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The ProAction program was established last year by CDEM and its partners, known in Manitoba as the Structured Mentorship Program. It allows newcomers to gain their first Canadian work experience in their field of expertise, with the support of an employer-designated mentor who will help them learn their trade and integrate their new work environment on Canadian soil.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As for employers, they benefit from the expertise of the CDEM, the S\u00c9O and the SDECB in addition to obtaining a wage subsidy during the first 16 weeks of the employee’s contract.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Canadian businesses looking for skilled labour rely more and more on immigration to meet their needs,” added Soro. “This program facilitates the integration of bilingual newcomers into the Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia workplaces.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
