CDEM is delighted to welcome you to its offices located at 200 – 614, Des Meurons Street, from June 15 to 17, 2026 from 9 am to 4 pm!

Business Start is also an immersion into the entrepreneurship world where you will learn how to address various challenges related to starting your own business.

Business Start is for anyone who wants to become an entrepreneur. This training will provide you with all the necessary tools at all levels, from your business idea to the start of your business.

Several topics will be covered, including:

  • Business plan
  • Accounting
  • Provincial and federal tax management
  • Marketing, sales and distribution strategies

All topics are taught in French by qualified instructors and they include exclusive and professional tools.

 

Schedule

 Monday June 15

  • 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Introduction to entrepreneurship: starting a business, business plans, and funding programs, presented by Joel Lemoine (Director of Business Support, CDEM).
  • 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Presentation on provincial tax by Izere Muhunguribyondo from Finance Manitoba.
  • 2:30 p.m.: Presentation on federal tax  by Suzanne Desbiens from the Canada Revenue Agency.

 

Tuesday June 16

  • 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Introduction to accounting: types of businesses, accounting systems, tax considerations, and payroll accounting, presented by Julien Grenier.
  • 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Presentation on legal aspects by Stephen McIntosh.

 

Wednesday June 17

  • 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Introduction to marketing: defining the brand, FFPM business analysis, the customer journey, and social media.

 

Registration

The training costs 60$ and is aimed to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, foreign citizens accepted by Immigration Canada and holding a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR), refugees, WHP (work and holiday program) or any other person holding a valid work authorization in Canada.
