July 6, 2026, Winnipeg – The Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM) is proud to announce the implementation of its new project Increasing and Improving Francophone Immigration in Manitoba , carried out with the support of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as part of the Francophone Immigration Support Program, thanks to funding from IRCC’s Francophone Immigration Support Program (FISP).
Supported by an investment of approximately $1.3 million from the Government of Canada, this initiative aims to attract, support and retain more Francophone and bilingual candidates in order to meet labour market needs and strengthen the economic, demographic and linguistic vitality of the province’s Francophone communities.
The project will focus on innovative measures to simplify the immigration process for Francophone and bilingual candidates best suited to the province’s labour market needs. It will include activities to promote Manitoba’s Francophone and bilingual communities abroad, digital solutions to improve the efficiency and user-friendliness of immigration and labour market integration processes, and support for the recognition of the skills of French-speaking health professionals trained abroad.
The project also includes research to better understand the challenges faced by Francophone temporary residents in Manitoba and to propose additional solutions to promote their sustainable settlement. With funding of $1,300,000 over two years, it will be implemented by CDEM in collaboration with its government and community partners.
This announcement is part of an ongoing collaboration between CDEM, the Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba to increase the population of Francophone minority communities and promote their contribution to the province’s economic development.
“CDEM is proud to lead this structuring project, in collaboration with our partners, which will help shape the future of Francophone economic immigration in Manitoba. Through targeted promotion strategies, digital innovation, skills development and a better understanding of the trajectories and realities of Francophone immigrants, we will help build strong, inclusive and prosperous Francophone communities that are able to sustainably meet the province’s economic and labour market needs.” »

À propos du CDEM

Recognized as a leader in Manitoba’s economic Francophonie, CDEM is a strategic partner of governments through its ability to mobilize and coordinate strategic resources to support the sustainable prosperity of Manitoba’s bilingual municipalities and their communities. CDEM is building on its achievements to maximize the positive impact on Manitoba’s Francophonie, which is one of Canada’s official language minority communities (OLMCs), and we will preserve them.
