Every Thursday throughout the summer, the Saint-Boniface Summer Market is infused with the aromas of fresh herbs, handcrafted vinaigrettes, and herbal teas made from locally grown plants. These sensory delights come straight from Suncraft Farm, a charming microfarm in Manitoba founded by herbal enthusiast Benjamin Coudière.
But Suncraft Farm is more than just a farm, it’s a passion project born during the pandemic from a desire for self-sufficiency and a deeper connection to nature. In 2020, while juggling remote work and daycare closures, Benjamin began experimenting with gardening, harvesting, and cooking alongside his daughter.
“I studied horticulture at Red River College,” he says. “And I’ve always worked on organic farms. Growing herbs at home just felt natural.”
What began as a homegrown hobby quickly evolved. Fresh herbs turned into herbal teas, syrups, seasonings, and vinaigrettes. With access to a commercial kitchen, Benjamin was able to scale up and launch a full line of natural, flavorful products.

Browse the Suncraft Farm website and you’ll find a vibrant selection: dried herbs like thyme, sage, and dandelion; herbal tea blends; white wine vinegar infused with herbes de Provence; flavoured oils; blackcurrant syrup; vinaigrettes and everything is handmade.
Benjamin’s mission? To craft products that are not only delicious but also beneficial for well-being.
“Many of my teas are made from plants I grow myself,” he explains. “Some are lesser-known culinary or medicinal herbs that I love introducing people to.”
Customer favorites include a detoxifying blend of dandelion root and chicory, and calming infusions with lemon balm and chamomile. Suncraft Farm also offers edible flowers: delicate, colorful, and nutrient-rich additions to salads and desserts.
The farm, located in Saint-Clements near Selkirk, focuses on native plant species. “They adapt well to our climate, support pollinators, and are more resilient to drought and extreme heat,” Benjamin notes.
Recently, Suncraft Farm has opened its gates to the public for immersive, creative events. From bouquet-making workshops to flower picking and dried floral art, each activity invites visitors to reconnect with nature and discover the beauty of local plants. Workshops are available in both French and English to welcome everyone.
Upcoming workshops at the farm include:
• Fresh Flower Bouquets – August 10, 2025
• Herbs and Infused Vinegar – August 17, 2025
• Pressed & Dried Flowers – August 24, 2025
• Tea Herbs – September 7, 2025
Can’t make it to the farm? You can still find Benjamin every week at the Saint-Boniface Summer Market, and at other local markets throughout the season—including the Saint-Norbert Market.
