On November 25, 2024, the Rural Municipality of Somerset announced the successful completion of a major project that will have a direct impact on the quality of life of its residents. These renovations were made possible thanks to the generous support of PrairiesCan, through funding from the Francophone Economic Development Fund for the Prairies (FDÉFP), administered by the CDEM.
As part of its commitment to promote family leisure moments, the municipality has also purchased bouncy castles. This equipment will be used at birthday parties, community events and special activities for the youngest. Children will be able to enjoy fun and safe facilities, promoting their development and well–being while creating a festive environment for all.
This project was made possible thanks to the support of CDEM, which made it possible to finance the renovation work and the purchase of the equipment necessary for its completion. The FDÉFP is a fund whose specific objective is to promote and financially support projects designed and carried out “by“ and “for“ the Francophone communities of the prairies of Western Canada.
Marie–Cécile Alvarez, Manager of the FDÉFP at CDEM, underlined the importance of these projects for the development of small rural communities: “CDEM is pleased to be able to support the municipality in this process of improving local infrastructure. These investments enrich the offer of services to the community, while contributing to the well–being of the inhabitants.”
The community of Somerset would like to warmly thank PrairiesCan and CDEM for their financial support and commitment to local development. This project demonstrates the community‘s desire to bring residents together through convivial moments and to strengthen the services offered to the population.
The community of Somerset is located in the Rural Municipality of Lorne which is a member of the AMBM. It is a dynamic and warm place, attached to the quality of life of its residents. It offers a wide range of community, educational and cultural activities, with a strong commitment to conviviality and collective well–being.
