Nestled in Blumenort, just minutes from Steinbach, The Dream Space Venue & Event Rentals is quickly becoming a cornerstone of Manitoba’s event industry. Founded in 2023 by francophone entrepreneur Nancy Oyam and her husband, Jean Kabongo, this dynamic business combines passion, creativity, and expertise to make every celebration extraordinary.

With the addition of two modern event spaces in January 2025, Nancy Oyam is taking her entrepreneurial journey to new heights.

A Passion for Decoration

Nancy Oyam’s love for design and entrepreneurship has always been a driving force. Originally from Manitoba, she pursued engineering studies at the University of Manitoba and later in Alberta but always felt the pull toward creative ventures.

“Even during my studies, I had an entrepreneurial spirit. Decorating and creating beautiful spaces has always been a passion of mine,” she shares.

Her current business isn’t Nancy Oyam’s first venture into the world of entrepreneurship. At just 19 years old, in 2010, she launched Statement by Cyrielle, a modeling, event planning, and makeup agency in Winnipeg. “It was during that time that I first connected with the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM). They helped me develop my business plan and budget for my company,” she recalls.

Her business ran for four years before Nancy left to continue her studies in Alberta. “I returned to Manitoba in 2019 and quickly noticed a growing demand for interior design and decoration. So, in 2022, my husband and I started Interiors by Nancy K.”

By summer 2023, the business expanded to include event rentals and rebranded as The Dream Space Venue & Event Rentals, now offering:

1. Event Décor Services – Transforming weddings, birthdays, and corporate events into unforgettable experiences.
2. Home Staging – Helping property owners boost their listings with eye-catching designs.
3. Venue Rentals – Two versatile, modern spaces perfect for weddings, receptions, corporate meetings, and more.

A Grand Opening to Remember

On January 11, 2025, The Dream Space celebrated the official launch of its two event venues with a grand opening. Attended by local dignitaries, including MP Ted Falk, representatives from CDEM, and community members, the event showcased Nancy and Jean’s vision for creating welcoming, stylish spaces.

For Nancy Oyam, this day was much more than just a launch. “It was a wonderful opportunity to share our vision and thank the people who have supported me throughout my professional journey, like CDEM, which has helped me tremendously throughout my career, both with my first business and with this one.

“I also want to thank Joel Lemoine, who works in business support at CDEM and has been a great help in the development of my business.”

As for the two new rental spaces located in Blumenort, north of Steinbach, they offer clients a wide range of possibilities. “For example, during a wedding, one space can be used for the ceremony while the other is perfect for the reception,” explains Nancy Oyam. “Our goal is to make event planning easier while creating elegant and welcoming spaces.”

These venues are suited for a variety of events. “Our clients can host private parties, receptions, weddings, or corporate meetings, for example.”

Building a Legacy

Nancy’s goal is clear: to establish The Dream Space Venue & Event Rentals as a leader in Manitoba’s event industry. “I especially want my business to be known for its quality, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction. With my husband and our employees, we always strive to work with a smile and provide our clients with an exceptional experience.”

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? “Trust yourself. Every challenge can feel overwhelming at first, but perseverance will always lead you to solutions. Never give up.”
