A century of growth and community spirit

The Rural Municipality of Grey, established in 1906, has seen significant development over the years. Initially led by Secretary-Treasurer W.C. Soole, administrative roles have since evolved to a Chief Administrative Officer. The council, consisting of a reeve and five councillors, governs a region marked by a rich history of Franco-Canadian, English, and Métis influence, later joined by European immigrants. The municipality, known for its prime agricultural land, has recently experienced a population increase due to its proximity to Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, offering a tranquil lifestyle with convenient city access. In 2006, the centennial celebration highlighted the enduring spirit and growth of the community.

The Rural Municipality of Grey is thrilled to announce a captivating series of events for the current year. On June 8 and 9, the Sourdough Bread Experience – Level II invites baking aficionados to deepen their knowledge of the craft. The Durham Herb Fair, taking place on June 8 at Riverside Park in Durham, promises a rich discovery of herbs and local products. For music lovers, the outdoor concerts “Music in the Square” will liven up every Saturday from June to August at Heritage Square. Finally, don’t miss the drag comedy show ‘Werq The Mic’ on June 8 at Cobble Beach, for an evening filled with humor and entertainment.
