The Rural Municipality of Grey, established in 1906, has seen significant development over the years. Initially led by Secretary-Treasurer W.C. Soole, administrative roles have since evolved to a Chief Administrative Officer. The council, consisting of a reeve and five councillors, governs a region marked by a rich history of Franco-Canadian, English, and Métis influence, later joined by European immigrants. The municipality, known for its prime agricultural land, has recently experienced a population increase due to its proximity to Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, offering a tranquil lifestyle with convenient city access. In 2006, the centennial celebration highlighted the enduring spirit and growth of the community.
The Rural Municipality of Grey is thrilled to announce a captivating series of events for the current year. Among the highlights, the painting exhibition by Heidi Berger, titled “I Sing My Song,” will be held from May 16 to June 22, offering an immersion into the artist’s figurative world. Gastronomy enthusiasts will be delighted by the Charcuterie evening at The Milk Maid, scheduled for June 6 and 7, where the art of charcuterie and cheese will be celebrated.
